Boss Taco is tireless cheerleader for Sac City Rollers. She and her family have been devoted to the league since she first joined.
A skating super mom & nurse, not to mention an awesome Secretary two years running AND recently voted Bruiser Co-Captain by her peers!
Taco is an SCR gem; always working hard behind the scenes and on the track to ensure our success. Such an amazing person!
Little known fact, she is also a great on-track banana whisperer ;) She does all the things and always has a positive attitude. One we definitely couldn't do without.
She's the best, duh, and around awesome ️ We appreciate you Taco!
MAY 2017: Red TornadHo #1013
She is 100% dedicated to derby. A patient and knowledgeable coach for Juniors and Birdies; her though-ut explanations and willingness to show an example drills until we nail it are so appreciated. She's a fierce utility player for the Punishers - horrible to jam against, an expert level Treasurer, and an awesome volunteer. You can text her a lot and she'll always answer your questions. A true asset to the league with a cool, superhuman, megaphone voice. We all enjoy skating with her is a pleasure to work with on league activities. Basically a tough as shit, force to be reckoned wit, ool freakin lad, ha takes care of ll the ehind the scenes stuf. We appreciate her so much and are extremely lucky to have her. Love us some no nonsense Red! BECAUSE DUH.
APRIL 2017: TILA-GRRR-ITA #888
Tila is 100% dedicated to SCR! She plays on our Folsom Prison Bruisers and has taken on the difficult task of jamming for her team this season. She is always focused and hungry to learn on the track. Tila is, of course, finding herself an asset to the Bruiser jamming crew.
Additionally, Tila is an integral part of our Junior Brats program including volunteering on the junior council and leading fundraising, as well as being a parent to 2 awesome junior skaters! Tila and her girls travel at least 100,000 miles a month to attend junior practices, vet practices and to volunteer at events.
Tila is always offering to volunteer in any capacity SCR needs including but not limited to: assistant coaching the juniors and NSOing our weekly junior scrimmages. We love having her as a part of our league and we wouldn't be as successful without her assistance.
What some of her team mates have said about her...
- She's so sweet and genuine that you just can't help but like her. - Tila is always positive and a total team player. We love her rockin' style and her attitude is first class. - Recently stepped up as a jammer, never negative, works hard, very supportive of the sport and her daughters. -Tila is not only fully committed as an adult skater but is also committed to our juniors including helping coach and managing fundraisers. She is always focused and hungry to learn on the track. -Tila is always positive. She helps out at so many events and drives like 100000 miles a week for practice between her own and her girls. She has stepped up to help out with the juniors. Always a team player. Love her!
MARCH 2017: DEVASK8HER #12
It only seems fitting that her 7th Anniversary with the Sac City Rollers be commemorated with a league-wide vote for Skater of the Month. Please joining us in congratulating - and celebrating - the one and only DEVASK8HER!!!
Deva has grown exponentially over the past seven years, also influenced by a stint with the Nashville Rollergirls. She has been a dedicated member of SCR's Coaches Crew, a pillar example of attendance and on-track work ethic. She always has a spare moment to talk shop and is willing offer advice on everything from gear, to supplements, to training tips. This woman is a wealth of derby knowledge and we are freaking stoked to have her!
Let's hear what some of her league-mates had to say: She is simply amazing! Dev is the skater I would love to become. Deva is pretty hard not to love. She's brave, ferocious, focused and always manages to be super nice when you engage her in conversation. A fine example of what we should all be striving for. Super nice, but will also kick your ass on the track; the perfect combo. She's a total badass, but she's not a jerk about it. That shit is priceless Deva is a badass in every sense of the word! I love skating with her! She is that skater that will try to master that move or skills she hates and actually excels at it. She is always willing to challenge her peers in a helpful manner.
I think it's safe to say this skater is a deeply valued member of our community and we all wish this Skater of the Month a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!
FEBRUARY 2017: UNCIVIL SHEPHARD #02
Uncivil ShepHard, or better known to us as Civvy, came to SCR through our Rec League program in February of 2015. She always gives 110% to the work at hand and displays constant motivation to improve her game - though never fails to find time to give feedback to fellow skaters. Practicing with Civ ensures encountering a positive attitude and eagerness to learn; she pours herself into derby, cross training, and has progressed astronomically in the past two years.
Her progress and attitude are inspiring not only to her peers, but also as recent addition to the Coaching Staff! Civ now translates her innate motivation and inspiration to new recruits in our Bird training program!
For these reasons and many more, we are thrilled to honor Uncivil ShepHard as SCR's February Skater of the Month!!
